What is the SHF Direct Debit Donor Programme (DDDP)?
DDDP is a donation programme especially designed for members of the public who are interested in supporting SHF’s work of providing highly subsidised cardiac rehabilitation programme and promoting heart health to the public on a monthly or 4-monthly basis. Heart health education and rehabilitation need to be long-term to be effective. As SHF is a non-profit organisation that does not receive any fixed grant, we need regular donations to continue serving the community.
In the past, we discovered through our interaction with the public that many people wanted to donate to SHF more regularly but in smaller amounts. Hence, DDDP is an answer to that request.

How does SHF promote DDDP?
DDDP is promoted face to face, an easily accessible and friendly method of giving members of the public a chance to find out more about SHF’s patient rehabilitation and community awareness work. DDDP is promoted at various places including events, shopping malls and busy bus or MRT interchanges throughout Singapore. All areas are submitted to NCSS for prior approval. The face-to-face approach also makes it easier for those who do not have the opportunity to contribute through other channels, such as visiting our office and website or calling us, to express their support.

Which parties are involved in DDDP?
There are 3 parties involved: SHF, APPCO and SG Support Services.
We have engaged APPCO, a reputable international marketing company which sends small teams of trained fundraisers known as “SHF Field Representatives” to promote DDDP at pre-approved venues in Singapore.
SG Support Services, our other partner, helps us to manage the programme’s administrative work.

Can I make a one-time donation?
SHF’s programmes and services are offered to beneficiaries and members of the public at heavily subsidised rates. Consistent funding is needed to sustain these initiatives.
As such, under DDDP, we encourage our donors to make recurring contributions of an amount and frequency of which they are comfortable. However, should the donor prefer to make a one-time donation, we would also be most grateful.
We welcome all donations and SHF Field Representatives are trained to accept both recurring and one-time donations. We do not set a minimum amount for one-time donations and all our donation forms have an option for donors to write any amount that they wish to contribute.

How much is the monthly or 4-monthly donation?
Monthly donations start at S$38. It is really a small sum to put aside (only S$1.25 per day) and yet this sum will go a long way towards a healthier Singapore!
Four-monthly donations are set at S$152 and deductions are made once every 4 months. It works out to exactly the same amount as S$38 a month, except that deductions are less frequent. Four-monthly donations help SHF reduce the administrative costs of the programme.
Every donation is highly valued and crucial for us to continue our work.

How can I make a monthly or 4-monthly donation to SHF?
You can make a donation to SHF through Credit Card (CC) or GIRO.
(Note: SHF Field Representatives are trained NOT to accept cash donations. We accept cheques ONLY when the donor prefers NOT to donate through CC or GIRO.)

Why does DDDP have monthly or 4-monthly donation schemes?
As SHF is a non-profit organisation that depends on public donations, our patient rehabilitation and public education work is largely funded by good-hearted individuals like you. We need consistent funding to enable us to plan our work for the community. Your generosity through monthly or 4-monthly donations will help SHF carry out long-term programmes aimed at educating and leaving future generations with a healthier heart and a better life.

Why doesn’t SHF use its own staff for DDDP?
We would love to, but we are not able to bear the considerable cost of setting up a team large enough to manage and carry out the DDDP. That is why we are partnering with a market leader like APPCO that specialises in face-to-face marketing. This partnership enables SHF to save costs and channel much more of your valuable donations directly to our heart health awareness and cardiac rehabilitation programmes.

Why doesn’t SHF use volunteers?
Face-to-face fundraising is a regular, professional job that requires long-term commitment, hard work and specific skills. All SHF Field Representatives undergo intensive training before they begin work. While we sincerely thank our volunteers for playing a valuable role in specific fundraising activities, their commitments outside the time that they generously donate to SHF mean that they are not the ideal candidates for this particular type of programme.

Does all the money go directly to SHF?
Yes. 100% of all the funds raised goes directly to SHF. DDDP is a safe and convenient way for members of the public to donate to us as we only accept credit card transactions and all the monies are debited directly into SHF’s bank account. SHF pays APPCO a small fee for the work done. Each year, we allocate a budget for various fundraising activities: special events, direct mailers and so forth. It is from this pre-allocated, strictly approved budget that this fee is paid. This fee is within the NCSS guidelines and contributes to the programme’s overheads.

What happens to the funds raised?
The funds raised are used by SHF for its operations and life-saving programmes aimed at promoting preventive measures against heart disease to the public; supporting community-based research aimed at gaining a better understanding of the landscape of heart disease in Singapore; getting more people trained in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED); providing rehabilitative and preventive care for recovering heart patients and at-risk individuals; as well as offering financial assistance to needy heart patients for emergency relief and treatment.
More information about these life-saving programmes can be found under Cardiac Rehabilitation and Heart Wellness, Community Education, Schools Programme and Heart Safe Singapore.

How do I know the authenticity of the representative?
All our representatives carry an ID badge and a copy of the CCA (Collectors Certificate of Authority), issued by NCSS, which details the name and NRIC of each individual fundraiser. You can also contact SHF directly and provide us with the full name or ID badge number of the representative you wish to verify.

How do I cancel/ stop my monthly or 4-monthly donation to SHF?
Every dollar is crucial to carry out our awareness and rehabilitation work and we hope we continue to merit your kind support.
However, should you ever need to stop your donation, all you have to do is contact us through the contact details provided below. We will process your request immediately. However, please allow a maximum of 30 days for the termination of GIRO and credit card arrangements to take effect.
