Go Red For Women

The Red Dress Collection

The Red Dress is the symbol of the Singapore Heart Foundation's Go Red For Women campaign. The Red Dress Collection features evening gowns created by Singapore's iconic designers inspired by this emblem.

You can support the Singapore Heart Foundation by bidding on any of these Red Dresses starting from $4,000. Each submitted bid will be assigned a unique tracking number and the successful bidders will be notified by the end of April. All proceeds raised from the sale of The Red Dress Collection will help SHF in its efforts to empower women in their battle against heart disease.

Ashley Isham

Designer Profile:
The Middlesex university graduate launched his first collection to critical acclaim in 2000, and went on to shine on the runway during every London Fashion Week since. Both classic and contemporary, Isham's red carpet-worthy designs have been lapped up by stars and royalty alike.

Inspiration:
I decided to do a red version of my Lotus Dress from my spring/summer 2008 collection because it's one of my all-time favourite dress designs. The inspiration is from one of my favourite designers, Madeleine Vionnet. It's all about draping to create a feminine, glamorous, sophisticated and alluring shape. The parachute sleeve is inspired by today's modern and urban lifestyle

Wykidd Song

Designer Profile:
Song made history when his label Song+Kelly took the world by a storm. He was the first Singaporean to show at the Australian Fashion Week in Sydney and New York Fashion Week, followed by London Fashion Week. The brand then became a partnership with Singapore retail giant Club 21. More recently, Song launched Wk Design to craft bespoke pieces for select clients.

Inspiration:
The design of the dress is inspired by the strong women of jazz era and their understated brand of elegance. I envisioned great chanteuses ranging from Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald to Cassandra Wilson, Astrud Gilberto and Sade. The gown reflects spontaneity and attention to detail.

Posse by Madeleine Wong and Jay Quek

Designer Profile:
This talent-ridden duo (Madeleine Wong and Jay Quek) has won over trendsetters with their feminine yet individualistic handcrafted creations. They may be in their twenties, but they've already made their names in the cutthroat fashion industry: The former won the Singapore and Asian Young Designer Award in 2003 while the latter was Singapore's Top Fashion Graduate that same year. Time to join this posse.

Beauty, humour and provocation motivate Henry. He has worked with Evian, L'Oreal, Raoul, Mont Blanc, Mercedes and SIA amongst others. His latest exhibition was commissioned by Swiss watch-maker Baume et Mercier, a collaboration with known local director, Royston Tan.

Inspiration:
Our latest collection is inspired by the music and attitude of the iconic and decadent 1970s Glam Rock era, zooming in on Ziggy Stardust as the muse. This red silk chiffon dress is striking, sexy and short, with geometric sci-fi embroideries along the neckline and a fringed jacket cinched at the waist with a wide belt.

Frederick Lee

Designer Profile:
His gowns of ultimate extravagance have delighted both well-heeled brides and fashion-savvy socialites. Having snagged awards like Designer of the Year at the Singapore Fashion Awards 2004, the designer has gone on to dress the upper echelons of China, London, Toronto and Turkey. Thirteen years on since his debut, Lee's still one of Singapore's top made-to-order designers to the taste-conscious.

Inspiration:
I advocate glamour, every minute of every day, and this comes across in my design. My influences include so many things that it's akin to a form of historical burlesque: technicolor musicals, old movies stars, cheesecake pin-ups, fetish objects, the ballet and the colour red!

Francis Cheong

Designer Profile:
Cheong first made his mark as the youngest finalist in the history of the Singapore Young Designer's contest when he was just 18. Today, his customised classics are defined by exquisite embroidery and beadwork. More recently, the self-dubbed perfectionist has dressed Fann Wong and Korean heartthrob Jang Hyuk for the film Dance of the Dragon.

Inspiration:
I have created a very simple and sleek fitted gown that is made out of the finest blood red silk crepe. Its simple shape is contrasted with the use of red tulle embellished with tiny red crystals and embroidery which covers the front bodice and resembles heart shapes.

Raoul

Designer Profile:
This home-grown label with an international aura is helmed by the talented Odile Benjamin, divisional director of licensing and product development for FJ Benjamin. Her keen sense of personal style and veteran experience in retail has resulted in the birth of the Raoul brand: stylish, sophisticated and highly flattering.

Inspiration:
This Raoul gown draws inspiration from a sculpted yet feminine figure, where a structured silhouette dominates. The wearer's sensuality unfolds through layers of silk and iridescent organza and the addition of a bold Swarovski chain belt and cufflinks further accents the gown and seduces whoever lays eyes on the design.

Tan Yoong

Designer Profile:
Recognised by his peers and loyal clientele as Singapore's leading designer for the past two decades, Tan continues to wow women with his couture-inspired concoctions. His exquisite cocktails dresses, exclusive eveningwear and romantic bridal gowns could rival the best in the industry - worldwide.

Inspiration:
This gown is inspired by Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face, when she floated down the grand staircase with a red chiffon cape flying behind her. It was such a grand and classic image that is so unforgettable!
