全国心脏周/世界心脏日2022

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) accounts for about 30% (or 1 in 3) of all deaths in Singapore every year, with high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, smoking and physical inactivity being the leading risk factors. Among them, the prevalence of high blood cholesterol in our population has increased significantly in the last ten years, from 25.2% in 2010 to 39.1% in 2020.

In light of this trend, National Heart Week/World Heart Day (NHW/WHD) 2022 shines the spotlight on high blood cholesterol, and aims to educate consumers through a physical event and digital channels about the condition.

  1. Know Your High Blood Cholesterol Risk

Join us in our two-day event at Our Tampines Hub (17-18 Sep) where a series of activities such as health talks, nutrition games and heart-pumping exercises are available to heighten your blood cholesterol awareness and kick start your heart-healthy journey.

You can also look forward to the return of Captain Hugo (previously named Hugopoly), our award-winning online board game that will supercharge your cholesterol knowledge as you earn points to redeem exciting prizes like Apple Watch, Mayer Airfryer and supermarket vouchers! The game will be available on captainhugo.myheart.org.sg (coming soon) from 17 Sep.

  2. Be An Informed Consumer

If you’re looking to get started on a healthy diet but not sure how, you can go on to Shopee Supermarket from 17 Sep for a list of heart-healthy foods carefully curated by SHF’s accredited dietitian. Just add to the cart and you’ll be one step towards improving your blood cholesterol profile.

  3. Check Your Numbers

High blood pressure and high blood cholesterol usually don’t cause any symptoms, and the only way to find out is through a health check. Visit our roadshow on 18 Sep for a free basic health check to understand your blood pressure reading and body mass index, and learn your risk for heart disease. Early detection and treatment can save lives!

Start taking steps to lower your cholesterol now!
