Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) + AED Certification Course

Note: With immediate effect, the Singapore Resuscitation and First Aid Council (SRFAC) will no longer accredit stand-alone BCLS courses. All BCLS full and re-certification courses conducted in SHF, will now include the use of an AED and be known as the BCLS+AED certification course. [Last updated: 21 May 2018]

This course aims to provide healthcare professionals with the knowledge and skills for Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and usage of Automated External Defibrillator (AED), according to the guidelines provided by the Singapore Resuscitation & First Aid Council (SRFAC).


Course Objectives

At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the rescuer’s role in the chain of survival.
  • Perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) effectively for adult and infant casualties.
  • Relief foreign body airway obstruction in a conscious and unconscious adult and infant casualties.
  • Use an AED correctly, safely and swiftly.

Course Duration

10 am – 4 pm
Re-certification: 1.30pm – 4.30pm

The Singapore Resuscitation and First Aid Council (SRFAC) and Ministry of Health (MOH) have allowed Singapore Heart Foundation to resume life support courses (i.e. CPR+AED certification courses and BCLS+AED certification courses) with conditions.

The following criteria applies to Phase 2 “Safe Transition”:

  • In addition to the learners defined in phase 1, training may resume for all learners
  • Class size will still be capped at 5 learners to align with the current cap of 5 persons for gatherings

    Course Outline

    • Adult one-man CPR
    • Relief of foreign body airway obstruction in an adult-conscious and unconscious situation
    • Infant CPR
    • Relief of foreign body airway obstruction in an infant-conscious and unconscious situation
    • Use of Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

    Certification

    BCLS+AED certificate which is valid for 2 years

    *Accredited by Singapore Resuscitation and First Aid Council
