AED-on-Wheels Programme

The AED-on-Wheels Programme was first launched in November 2015 as part of the Save-A-Life Initiative. This is to promote community first response and increase the availability of AEDs in the community with the support from SMRT Taxis and Temasek Cares, Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), National Fire and Civil Emergency Preparedness Council (NFEC) and the National Taxi Association (NTA).

HDT Singapore Taxi is the second taxi company after SMRT to come on board the “AED-on-Wheels Programme”. Till date, we have a total of 150 taxis drivers were equipped with AEDs and the taxi drivers were trained in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)+AED skills.

This is so that they can respond to cardiac arrest cases when alerted via the myResponder mobile app, by SCDF’s 995 Emergency Call Centre, of cardiac arrest cases within a 1.5-kilometre radius of their taxi’s location. Drivers who are able to respond will confirm their participation through the app and drive the taxi to deliver the AED to the scene and administer the AED and perform CPR.
