National Life Saving Day 2023
Singapore Heart Foundation marked the annual National Life Saving Day (NLSD) on 15 Jan 2023 with a symposium at Singapore General Hospital’s Academia Ngee Ann Kongsi Auditorium. The event, which is dedicated to appreciating and developing the skills of CPR+AED instructors in Singapore, saw over 200 CPR+AED instructors from 50 training centres in attendance with Ms Sun Xueling, Minister of State for Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Social and Family Development as the Guest of Honour.
The theme of this year’s symposium was “Mind over Matter: Responding with Resilience”, featuring presentations from our guest speakers from Ministry of Home Affairs, Dr Gabriel Ong; Singapore Association for Mental Health, Ms Serene Goh and Integrative Learning Corporation, Ms Faiszah Hamid.
Their presentations covered 3 aspects for mental health resilience:
- Prevent – Barriers of helping and how to address them
- Respond – How to help the trauma-informed way
- Identify – The role of psychological first aid after a crisis or emergency
