FAQ

The CPR+AED Certification Course aims to equip you with life-saving skills and the confidence to respond to cardiac emergencies. It will provide you with up-to-date knowledge and skills to perform CPR and use AED effectively and safely.

Participants can expect to learn through role-play and hands-on simulation in a conducive, non-threatening environment, with coaching and guidance from our certified instructors.

Certification

Upon successful completion of the two-part training, participants will receive a CPR+AED certification accredited by the Singapore Resuscitation and First Aid Council, ensuring that the skills acquired meet established resuscitation standards.

The certification is jointly accredited by the following organisation:

Accrediting Body Role in Certification
Singapore Resuscitation and First Aid Council (SRFAC) Sets national standards for CPR and AED training and ensures course quality

This accreditation reflects that the CPR course follows structured, evidence-based protocols, giving participants confidence that their training is aligned with current national guidelines for emergency response.

Course Objectives

At the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • Understand Chain of Survival
  • Identify signs of cardiac arrest
  • Understand rescuer’s role and response to cardiac arrest victims

What is a CPR+AED certification and why is it important?

A CPR+AED certification confirms that an individual has been trained to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation and use an automated external defibrillator in emergencies. It is important because early intervention can improve survival outcomes in cases of sudden cardiac arrest, especially before professional help arrives.

Who should take a CPR course?

A CPR course is suitable for anyone, including members of the public, caregivers, teachers, and workplace first aiders. It is particularly relevant for individuals who want to be prepared to respond confidently during cardiac emergencies in both home and community settings.

How long does it take to complete CPR+AED certification?

The CPR+AED certification typically involves a blended learning format, combining online theory with in-person practical training. Most participants can complete the full course within one to two days, depending on the training schedule and pace.

What will I learn in a CPR course?

A CPR course teaches essential life-saving skills such as recognising cardiac arrest, performing chest compressions, and using an AED safely. It also covers practical scenarios to help participants apply these skills in real-life situations with greater confidence.

How long is a CPR+AED certification valid?

A CPR+AED certification is generally valid for a limited period, after which renewal is required to stay updated with current guidelines. Regular recertification helps ensure that skills remain accurate and aligned with the latest resuscitation standards.

What is the difference between CPR training and first aid training?

CPR training focuses specifically on resuscitation techniques and the use of AEDs during cardiac emergencies. First aid training, on the other hand, covers a broader range of situations such as wounds, burns, and injuries, making it more comprehensive for general emergency response.

Is prior experience required to attend a CPR course?

No prior experience is required to join a CPR course, as it is designed to be accessible to beginners. Trainers guide participants through each step, ensuring that even those without medical background can learn and practise the techniques effectively.

Can CPR+AED certification help in workplace safety?

Yes, having employees with CPR+AED certification can support workplace preparedness during medical emergencies. It equips staff with the ability to respond promptly, which can be valuable in offices, schools, and public-facing environments.

Some CPR courses require one full training day. This programme is only two and a half hours long. Is the teaching compromised?

The CPR+AED Certification Course (Blended Learning) fully complies with the national standards set by the Singapore Resuscitation and First Aid Council (SRFAC). Singapore Heart Foundation is a SRFAC accredited AED training centre.

Is there a dress code>

Participants are requested to be suitably and comfortably dressed: T-shirt and pants/slacks with comfortable shoes. Avoid wearing dress, skirts and low-cut tops as the course requires (slight) physical activity.

Can I participate if I am pregnant?

We do not recommend pregnant women to participate in the training. However, if you are keen to learn more about CPR+AED, you can find out more in the following links or sign up for the Restart A Heart Programme.
