Making lifestyle changes and adjusting to life after a heart attack may be challenging for an individual, but peer support and encouragement can bring about a positive and sustained impact. The SHF Healthy Heart Support Group serves as this support network that helps to reinforce members’ knowledge of heart health and cardiac rehabilitation, and at the same time, offer emotional support and shared experiences through regular meetings or group activities.
On 10 Apr (Sat), the Heart Wellness Centre – Healthy Heart Support Group (HHSG) organised its first HHSG activity since its rebranding. The virtual event led by Dr Tan Yong Seng, Chairman of HWC, saw 31 members in attendance. The new HHSG logo, which was designed by a member of the support group, was officially unveiled at the event.
The heart on the logo represents each member of the group, supported by the hand, which represents peers in the HHSG. This is a symbol of their efforts to connect with one another to achieve a healthy lifestyle together.
Members participated actively in a quiz on the new HHSG logo, and three winners each walked away with a SHF foldable umbrella.
This was followed by a mini performance by Dr Tan who sang “If We Hold On Together”, and Fendi (SHF Physiotherapist) and Natalie (SHF dietitian) who sang “That’s What Friends Are For”. Both are meaningful songs that remind us of the strength we can give one another when we are together.

After the celebration, Dr Tan led the discussion on the topic “Perception of Health”, reminding participants that the right lifestyle and mindset is key to keeping healthy. He also held a QnA session after his sharing. Before ending the session, he walked participants through a short exercise to correct their breathing techniques.

Thank you to all participants who joined, and we look forward to seeing you at the next event!
