At the National Life Saving Day 2020 Symposium, Prof V. Anantharaman from the Singapore General Hospital introduced two new categories of devices in cardiac arrest management:
-
Impedance Threshold Device (ITD)
The 2-handed technique in the initial use of the ITD with a face mask to maintain a continuously tight seal during compressions and ventilations.
-
Mechanical CPR
There are many kinds of mechanical CPR devices, which include the AutoPulse device, LUCAS 3 Device and the Easy Pulse.
- Advantages
- improve the quality of chest compressions
- apply compression more consistently
- provide high-quality compressions in a moving ambulance
- allow less EMS staff to do CPR
- Disadvantages
- Heavy
- Bulky
- Expensive
- Takes time to apply if not well trained
