National Life Saving Day 2024
Nearly 20 lives are lost each year from accidental drowning or submersion, underscoring a critical gap in our collective efforts to respond effectively to such incidents. Recognising the urgency of addressing this issue, the Singapore Heart Foundation organised its annual National Life Saving Day (NLSD) symposium on 21 Jan 2024 at the Ng Teng Fong Centre for Healthcare Innovation (CHI) within Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
The symposium drew over 100 CPR+AED instructors and dedicated lifeguards with Dr Lim Wee Kiak, Member of Parliament for Sembawang GRC (Canberra) as the Guest of Honour.
The theme of this year’s symposium was “Diving into Water Safety and Drowning Response”, featuring presentations from our guest speakers: Mr Ng Chuen Ser, Singapore Life Guard Academy, SGT Andrea Wong, Singapore Civil Defence Force and Dr Syeda Kashfi Qadri, KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
