Singapore, 27 September 2025 – Cardiovascular disease remains Singapore’s leading public health threat, underscoring the importance of prevention, rehabilitation and resuscitation. To raise awareness and empower the public to take charge of their heart health, the Singapore Heart Foundation (SHF) organised its annual National Heart Week/World Heart Day 2025 at Junction 8 today. Themed “Resilient Hearts, United Future: Building Our Heart-Healthier Singapore Together”, the event brought the community together to learn practical steps for heart-healthy living, while reflecting on Singapore’s resilience at SG60 and commemorating SHF’s 55th year of building a heart-healthier nation.
The event was graced by Ms Sim Ann, Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Home Affairs and highlighted the importance of collective action in protecting and improving heart health. More than a community gathering, the event showcased how individuals, families, schools, healthcare partners and corporates each play an integral role in shaping a heart-healthier nation. Aligned with the SG60 message of “Connect, Contribute and Care”, SHF connects people and communities with heart health knowledge, contributes to national efforts through programmes and partnerships, and cares for individuals by equipping them with resources to take ownership of their heart health journey and save lives through resuscitation.
“As we commemorate our 55th year, it has never been clearer that promoting better heart health in Singapore must be a shared responsibility,” said Mr Geoffrey Ong, CEO of Singapore Heart Foundation. “Our annual National Heart Week/World Heart Day highlights the powerful impact of cross-sector collaborations, grassroots initiatives and community-wide engagement in empowering individuals—young and old—to make heart-healthy choices, learn life-saving skills, and support one another in building a resilient future together.”
Recognising that heart health requires multipartite collaborations, SHF spotlighted key partnerships across industry, education, and community sectors. These include:
Together, these partnerships reaffirm SHF’s commitment to making heart health knowledge and resources accessible and practical for all Singaporeans.
True to its commitment to inclusivity, SHF brought together participants of all ages to experience activities that made heart health both practical and engaging. From resistance band workouts to low-impact cardio exercises, these sessions not only encouraged physical activity but also highlighted how simple movements can strengthen fitness, improve mobility and build stamina safely.
The event also featured lively stage games and quizzes that engaged participants while equipping them with the essential heart heath knowledge. Participants further gained vital life-saving skills through live CPR+AED demonstrations, as well as a hands-on CPR+AED certification course led by SHF instructors. These sessions provided practical knowledge and instilled confidence in the participants to empower them to respond effectively to cardiac emergencies, reinforcing the importance of early intervention within the community.
Complementing the physical and emergency response activities, visitors explored nutrition and lifestyle choices through food tastings at the Heart Smart Kitchen, where families discovered healthier food options together. Children enjoyed a snack-crafting session that blended creativity with lessons on nutrition, while other participants attended the Heart Wellness Talks that debunked common myths, offered practical takeaways for cardiovascular disease prevention and introduced SHF’s Heart Wellness Programme.
The day’s activities brought to life SHF’s mission to empower every Singaporean with the knowledge, skills and motivation to take charge of their heart health and embrace healthier living for the years to come.
In the spirit of community and care, SHF unveiled a special edition Hearty Friends in a Box – a set of limited-edition collectible blind boxes available until 31 October 2025. Each box features an adorable Hearty Friend stress ball and a collectible character card packed with fun heart health factoids to educate and inspire. More than just a keepsake, the initiative carries a deeper purpose – proceeds will go directly towards sustaining SHF’s life-saving programmes and outreach efforts, from preventive education to cardiac rehabilitation support for patients and their families to resuscitation training sessions and initiatives.
Members of the public are invited to be part of this meaningful campaign by collecting their very own Hearty Friend and contributing to a cause that touches lives across Singapore.
