In honour of the National Heart Week/World Heart Day 2025, we invited young creative minds to participate in our Art for the Heart 2025 competition, which was titled “Resilient Hearts”. The competition’s objective was to highlight heart-healthy lifestyle choices through artistic expression.
Participants were tasked to create a 2D mixed media artwork that incorporates at least one type of art medium and one recycled material to showcase how healthy lifestyle choices can contribute to a resilient heart.
After reviewing a slew of impressive submissions, we are thrilled to announce our well-deserved winners, whose artworks beautifully captured the essence of this year’s theme and underscored the significance of heart-healthy living!
Here are the winner and their creative art pieces:

On winning the first prize, Mikaela remarked: “To me, Resilient Hearts means having the strength to stay healthy even when surrounded by temptations. A resilient heart continues to beat strong when we make good lifestyle choices and care for our body.
I was inspired by how our daily food and lifestyle affect the heart. Many people enjoy fast food and soft drinks, but too much of them can weaken our health. I wanted my artwork to show the difference between unhealthy habits and a healthy heart.
For my work, I used recycled paper and cardboard to show sustainability, layering coloured pencil, marker and acrylic paint on top. The flowers in bright colours symbolise health, growth and life, while the darker junk food around the edges shows harm and temptation. The curled-up figure in the centre represents the heart, looking tired and trapped by unhealthy choices.
My message is simple: healthy habits help our hearts stay resilient and strong.”

Thrilled to win second prize for the competition, Adelyn opined: “I created this artwork with different recycled materials like newspapers and plastics. To me, building resilient hearts is not just exercise and choosing healthier foods, but also following my passion for art and creating art. Having fun outside with my friends, playing sports, enjoying music makes my heart happy. The joy and peace that I feel when I spend time with my friends and family inspired me to create this artwork. I hope that when people look at my art piece, they will remember to take care of their hearts by staying healthy and doing fun activities with people whom they love. Everyone can build resilient hearts when we take care of one another.”

Speaking with passion and inspiration, Xinyu commented: “My artwork shows two hands forming a heart, symbolising the shared responsibility of protecting our heart health at every stage of our life. A healthy heart requires daily choices like exercising, staying active and keeping a happy outlook on life. The cheerful figures and vibrant colours surrounding the heart highlight how joy and community are linked to well-being.
Made using recycled magazine and detailed with acrylic markers, this artwork also reflects resilience and sustainability. Just as recycled materials are given a new lease of life, our hearts too can grow stronger when nurtured with care and positivity.
The message I hope viewers will take away is simple: value your heart, embrace a lifestyle that supports both health and happiness, and remember that a resilient heart makes for a resilient life!”
