Eating Fresh Fruits Linked to Lower Diabetes Risk and Complications

Fresh fruits and vegetables are two important components of a healthy diet because they provide essential health benefits for the body, but the sugar content of fruits has been uncertain.

A study assessed 500,000 Chinese people over a period of 7 years and found that those who ate more fresh fruits had an estimated 0.2% decreased risk of developing diabetes, while diabetic patients had a 1.9% lowered risk of mortality and reduced risks of microvascular and macrovascular complications. It is suggested to eat a colourful and balanced diet, for a healthier you.

The Health Promotion Board, Singapore recommends half of your dining plate be filled with fruits and vegetables.
