More Obese in the World than Underweight: Study

A study led by scientists from Imperial College London, which compared the body mass index among almost 20 million adult men and women from 1975 to 2014, found that the number of obese people worldwide increased drastically from 105 million to 641 million.

The data also analysed the statistics for both genders and found that obesity in men had tripled and more than doubled for women.

In the same period, the number of underweight people had increased moderately from 330 million to 462 million.

There is no single solution to combating obesity, so everyone – the government, industry, local authorities and the public – has a role to play.

Obesity is one of the modifiable risk factors for cardiovascular disease, so do get moving to keep in shape!
