Wear Red Day 2021

Heart disease is the number 1 killer of women worldwide, taking the lives of more women than all forms of cancer combined. In 2019, cardiovascular disease (CVD) accounted for 27.4% of female deaths in Singapore, which means that 1 in 3 female deaths was due to heart disease or stroke.

Wear Red Day, which falls on the first Friday of every February, is an awareness day specially dedicated to women’s heart health. Men and women are encouraged to wear red to symbolise of their support for women’s heart health and raise awareness of CVD.

Singapore Heart Foundation marked Wear Red Day on 5 Feb with a virtual staff gathering over Zoom. Staff displayed virtual backgrounds designed for the “Go Red for Women” campaign and pledged to adopt heart-healthy habits such as opting for healthier snacks, in the new year.
