Project Heart 2023

Themed “Teaching Minds, Saving Lives”, this year’s event focused on training students and educators from 13 schools to cultivate CPR+AED competency from an early age; this is important in promoting a heart safe nation. The Guest of Honour was Mr Eric Chua, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth and Social and Family Development.

The Singapore Heart Foundation marked its 12th edition of Project Heart on 14 Oct 2023 at the Singapore Sports Hub. Close to 1,000 participants were certified at this annual CPR+AED mass training event, which was co-organised by Singapore Resuscitation and First Aid Council (SRFAC) and the Unit for Pre-hospital Emergency Care (UPEC).

Project Heart 2023 was also a commemoration of World Restart A Heart Day. In the lead up to the event, SHF partnered with the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), Singapore Red Cross Society, St John Singapore, and UPEC to conduct a total of 223 CPR+AED awareness sessions, involving more than 3,200 participants.

The event also featured the Survivor Awards Singapore 2023 in partnership with UPEC. 34 individuals – comprising community first responders, dispatchers, firefighters, and paramedics – were presented with certificates of commendation from six survivors, who are alive because of their benefactors’ resuscitation efforts.

Mr Lin Guang Min and Mr Jeremy Ang were among the recipients of the Survivor Awards Singapore 2023. Alerted to a cardiac arrest case through the SCDF’s myResponder app, the two community first responders effectively applied CPR and rapid defibrillation, and resuscitated Mr Seah.
