Life After Circuit Breaker: Include a Healthy To-Do List

Although Singapore has exited the circuit breaker, life has moved into the “new normal” where we must continue with safe distancing and masking up. It is also important to monitor your health, should you have any medical conditions.

Here’s a simple checklist to guide you into life after lockdown.

  • Reschedule any missed procedures or screenings. Patients with untreated cardiovascular disease are at increased risk of adverse outcomes. Delays in the treatment of patients with confirmed cardiovascular disease will be detrimental. Health screenings should also be done to avoid further delay in treatment.
  • Make a catch-up appointment with your primary care doctor. Update on your health during the pandemic, including any weight or diet changes, depression symptoms, sleep problems and other illnesses, for more accurate monitoring of your condition.
  • Stop smoking to protect your lungs. Given that COVID-19 is a respiratory disease, keeping the lungs healthy should be high on the to-do list.
  • Come up with a plan for future medical care. Discuss with your family future health decisions in case of a serious illness.
  • Set and follow through on health priorities. A healthy lifestyle includes nutritious meals, more active time, adequate sleep and reduce stress through yoga or meditation.
