The term “ultra-processed food” refers to foods that have gone through substantial industrial processing and typically contain high amounts of sugar, salt and saturated fat, which help to make the bread texture “a bit softer”, according to Senior Principal Dietician Gladys Wong of Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.
