Singapore, 3 June 2025 — After a 20-year hiatus, the Singapore Heart Foundation’s (SHF) charity television show is making a return to the airwaves. The Resilient Hearts – Singapore Heart Foundation 55th Anniversary Charity Show《心手相连献爱心》will air on Sunday, 29 June 2025, from 7pm to 10pm on Mediacorp Channel 8 and simulcast on meWATCH.
The show will be graced by Guest of Honour, President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, also the Patron of SHF, and it will be a heartfelt celebration that promises an evening of inspirational stories and rousing performances by celebrities, cardiac patients, volunteers and more.
To announce the highlights of this exciting television event, the Foundation held a press conference at its headquarters today, led by Prof Tan Huay Cheem, Chairman of SHF, and Mr Geoffrey Ong, CEO of SHF.
With its first charity television show held in 1998, and the last held in 2005, this charity show marks an important occasion for SHF—especially being an anchor event of its 55th anniversary celebrations this year, themed “Resilient Hearts”.
This charity show will pay tribute to the many individuals who embody resilience—cardiac patients, caregivers, volunteers and partners—and have journeyed alongside SHF through the years. Their stories are a testament to the strength of the indomitable human spirit, and this show is a celebration of their courage and commitment in their battle against cardiovascular disease.
“Approximately 23 lives are lost to cardiovascular disease each day, and it remains one of the leading causes of death in Singapore. By empowering our communities with the knowledge and motivation to protect their heart health, and by inspiring generosity towards building their resilience, we can make a lasting impact,” said Prof Tan Huay Cheem, Chairman of SHF.
SHF also aims to raise public awareness of its mission, vision and contributions to the society through this television event and inspire more people to join the heart health movement.
“Live television still brings people together in a way few other platforms can,” said Geoffrey Ong, CEO of SHF. He added: “Through a trusted broadcaster like Mediacorp Channel 8, we can connect with viewers across the country, all sharing a moment, right from their living rooms. And for those who are always on the go, they can catch it on meWATCH. It’s powerful, it’s emotional, and it brings our community together.”
Given that a similar charity television show aired on Channel 8 in September 2023 reached about 800,000 viewers in just three hours, SHF believes that this charity show will be able to accomplish its objective of raising the public’s awareness of the Foundation and its programmes and initiatives.
Among SHF’s key programmes and initiatives, the development of its fourth Heart Wellness Centre to be located in eastern Singapore is key. This will bring its highly subsidised holistic community-based cardiac rehabilitation programme closer to the cardiac patients and at-risk individuals living in the region, supporting their long-term heart health.
This charity show comes timely as part of the donations that come through it will go towards financing the hefty costs of setting up and operating this new Heart Wellness Centre.
This charity show promises a captivating line-up of performances, featuring international stars like Taiwanese singer Chen Lei and Hong Kong’s Kenny Bee, who will headline the musical performances.
Local celebrities such as Kym Ng, Guo Liang, Zoe Tay, Chen Hanwei, Marcus Chin, Huang Qing Yuan, Shaun Chen, Paige Chua, Elvin Ng, Carrie Wong, Denise Camillia Tan, He Ying Ying, Tay Ying, Gini Chang, Germaine Leonora Tan, Gao Mei Gui, and the “Little Bride” from the local drama series Emerald Hill, Ivory Chia, will also be among the performers of the show.
In addition, Singapore’s legendary goalkeeper and KOL, Hassan Sunny, will be making a special performance with various Mediacorp artistes and clients from SHF’s Heart Wellness Centres.
“As a professional athlete, I understand how important it is to take care of our heart and how that affects our overall health,” said Hassan Sunny. He added: “I’m honoured to be able to play my part to build a heart-healthier Singapore.”
Throughout the evening, viewers will also hear directly from SHF’s Heart Wellness Centre clients and Heart Support Fund beneficiaries, who will be sharing their stories of resilience with Mediacorp artistes and how SHF has been a beacon of hope during the darkest moments of their lives and an encouraging and helpful companion on their road to recovery.
This charity show is more than just a celebration of SHF’s 55th anniversary. It also marks the start of its next chapter and serves as a stark reminder to press on with its mission, with the support of generous individuals and organisations.
SHF urges all Singapore residents to give generously to support its mission through these ways:
