Offered by Singapore Heart Foundation in partnership with NCSS, the Social Service Tribe Study Award provides students from qualifying courses of study with the opportunity to pursue a meaningful career in social service.
Students who are offered this study award will each receive a monetary award to support their studies and embark on a meaningful career in Singapore Heart Foundation as a full-time Physiotherapist upon their graduation.
Students eligible for the scheme must meet the following criteria:
- Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident
- Full-time undergraduate or postgraduate students studying Physiotherapy at a local institution recognised by professional associations such as Singapore Association of Social Workers (SASW), Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC) and Singapore Psychological Society (SPS)
- Currently not a full-time employee at any organisation
- Currently not receiving any scholarships or sponsorships
- Have a recommended GPA of minimum 60%
- Be able to serve a bond period with Singapore Heart Foundation upon graduation
- For the mid-term study award: Applicant must apply by the first semester of their final academic year
After completing your studies, you must serve a bond with Singapore Heart Foundation. The bond duration depends on the type of study award received. You will be offered a job role that commensurate with your experiences and qualifications attained (e.g., Physiotherapist/ Therapy Assistant) when you serve the bond at Singapore Heart Foundation. Job responsibilities include the following.
- Responsible for running community cardiac rehabilitation classes including prescription, progression assessment and management of cardiac patients referred for rehabilitation.
- Provide assessment to determine an appropriate programme for individual client’s needs for their well-being.
- Provide ongoing support for risk factor management to high-risk individuals.
- Create an effective and safe environment for patient receiving physiotherapy or person using the facility.
- Conduct health and education talks/seminars.
- Involved in areas of wellness, weight management programmes and cardiovascular disease prevention.
