Mr Vernon Kang

Chief Operating Officer
Singapore Heart Foundation

Mr Vernon Kang first joined Singapore Heart Foundation (SHF) in March 2005 as the Chief Operating Officer and was later appointed Chief Executive Officer in June 2009. Under his stewardship, SHF saw the expansion of its programmes under the three core pillars of Prevention, Rehabilitation and Resuscitation, creating an impact on hearts of Singaporeans. On 22 Apr 2024, Mr Vernon Kang hand over the baton to Mr Geoffrey Ong, and step down as Chief Operating Officer.

In particular, Mr Kang has led SHF in the active participation of various governmental CPR+AED initiatives such as the AED-on-Wheels and Save-A-Life Initiative, which have contributed positively to the Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest survival rates in Singapore. SHF received the Minister for Home Affairs National Day Award 2021 in recognition of its efforts in lifesaving.

A veteran in the social services sector, Mr Kang served eight years at the Methodist Welfare Services as the Director of Finance and Administration, and Executive Director prior to SHF. During his stint, he helped set up Bethany Methodist Nursing Home, the organisation’s nursing home, as well as a Family Service Centre as part of its outreach.

Mr Kang was an Assistant Manager with POSB before joining the social services sector. He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of London and a Master of Science degree in Community Healthcare Management from the University of Wales (Swansea).
