The theme for the Art for the Heart Art Competition 2025 is “Resilient Hearts”, which is aligned with the Singapore Heart Foundation’s 55th anniversary celebration’s theme, and it highlights the importance of adopting a heart-healthy lifestyle.

Explore mixed media techniques and incorporate various art media alongside recycled materials in your artwork. The integration of recycled elements not only supports environmental sustainability, but also symbolises creativity, innovation and the spirit of resilience.

Competition Period:
8 Jul 2025 (8am) – 14 Sep 2025 (11.59pm)

How to Participate:

  • To educate students on the importance of healthy lifestyle habits that support heart health.
  • To provide a structured opportunity for students to demonstrate creativity through visual arts.
  • To encourage independent research and critical reflection on heart health through art.

Submission Guidelines

  1. Theme relevance: Your artwork must reflect the connection between positive lifestyle choices, such as your favourite exercises and hobbies, and a healthier heart, or choose to interpret the theme creatively based on your own experiences and personal interpretations.
  2. Artwork requirements: Artwork should be created on an A3-size drawing block, with the participant’s full name, class and school clearly written on the front. Each artwork should contain a title. Refer to the image below for the guidelines and specifications of your artwork:

  1. Write-up guidelines: Include a short, well-organised and clear write-up (maximum 150 words) to accompany your artwork.
    Here are some guiding questions:
    What does “Resilient Hearts” mean to you?
    Who or what inspired your artwork?
    What message do you hope viewers will take away from it?​
  2. Art style and recycled elements: Use of 2D Mixed Media Art style that combines at least one type of art medium (e.g., pencil, watercolor pencils, acrylic paint, crayons) with collage techniques, and includes at least one recycled material (e.g., newspapers, bottle caps, cardboard).
    Definition of 2D Mixed Media Artwork: flat artwork that uses different art mediums and may include use of different materials such as recycled materials;
    Definition of collage techniques: pasting different materials (e.g., newspapers, cardboard) onto a surface to create an image
  3. Submission: Ensure that your entry follows all listed guidelines and specifications, including theme relevance, format, materials and presentation requirements. Ensure that the image of your artwork is visually clear. Have an adult (e.g., parent/guardian/teacher) to submit the image of your artwork on your behalf with one short write-up (no more than 150 words) through Jotform. Lastly, ensure that the original artwork is kept safely until 31 Dec 2025. For the purpose of photo-taking, winners of the competition are encouraged to bring their original artwork when collecting their prize.

Judging Criteria

  1. The artwork effectively captures the theme of heart-healthy lifestyle choices or reflects the participant’s personal interpretation.
  2. Use of colours, recycled materials and art media enhances the overall visual impact.
  3. The write-up is well-organised, logical and supports the artwork in conveying the theme.

Terms & Conditions

The Art for the Heart “Resilient Hearts” Art Competition 2025 (“the Competition”) is organised by the Singapore Heart Foundation (“the Organiser”), in conjunction with the National Heart Week/World Heart Day 2025.

  1. By participating in the Competition, the participant agrees to the following Terms & Conditions.
  2. Participation in the Competition constitutes the participant’s agreement to and acceptance of these Terms & Conditions and the decisions of the Organiser, which are final and binding. Winning a prize is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements as stated in these Terms & Conditions.
  3. Eligibility:
    1. Participants must be aged 7 to 12 in 2025 and residing in Singapore. The participants must submit their entry through an adult.
  4. How to Participate in the Contest:
    The participant must do the following:

    1. Create an artwork that embodies the theme “Resilient Hearts”.
    2. Write a short write-up about his/her artwork.
    3. Upload the artwork and write-up at www.myheart.org.sg/artwork-submission.
  5. Entry Requirements:
    1. The entry must be the original work of the participant that has not been published or won any award previously.
    2. The entry must not infringe, in any manner, any third party’s right, title and interest in and to all intellectual property, including patents, copyrights, inventions, original works of authorship, developments, concepts, improvements, designs, discoveries, ideas, trademarks or trade secrets.
    3. The entry cannot refer to any brand names and cannot be confusingly similar to any third-party product names, brand names, or trademarks.
    4. The entry cannot contain any word or material that promotes bigotry, racism, hatred, or harm against any group, individual, or discrimination based on race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or age or be in violation of any other applicable laws in Singapore.
    5. The entry cannot contain any wording or material that is inappropriate, obscene, indecent, tortuous, offensive, violent, hateful, or defamatory, or that disparages the Organiser or contains any other content otherwise prohibited by or contrary to the laws of Singapore.
    6. The entry cannot contain any private and confidential particulars, such as licence plate numbers, NRIC/FIN number and contact details, unless otherwise requested by the Organiser to conduct the Competition.
    7. Any entry that is determined by the Organiser, in its sole discretion, at any time during the Competition, to violate the entry requirements or these Terms & Conditions, or to otherwise be unsuitable, offensive or in poor taste, may be rejected, removed and the accompanying participant disqualified.
  6. Duration of the Competition:
    1. Competition commences on 8 Jul 2025 at 8am (SGT) and ends on 14 Sep 2025 at 11.59pm (SGT).
  7. Prizes and Announcement of Winners:
    1. The Organiser will track all the entries submitted and reward the best participants.
    2. The three best Participants who meet the entry requirements will be picked as winners. The prizes are as follows:
      Grand Prize (1st Place): Premium Art Kit (worth $150)
      Runner-Up Prize (2nd Place): Essential Art Kit (worth $100)
      Novelty Prize (3rd Place): Creative Starter Kit (worth $50)
    3. The winners will be determined and announced by the Organiser on 29 Sep 2025.
    4. The winners will be notified by email and phone and are required to respond and acknowledge within 10 working days after receiving the notification. The Organiser reserves the right to forfeit any unclaimed prizes and declare other winner(s) in any of such manner the Organiser deems fit.
    5. The winners are to present their proof of identification (e.g. Ezlink card) and bring the original art piece for photography purpose.
    6. The judging of shortlisted and winning entries is entirely within the sole discretion of the Organiser. The Organiser’s decision is final, and no further correspondence will be entertained.
    7. The winners’ entries including their names and photos, may be published on SHF’s website www.myheart.org.sg, publications, and social media.
  8. Prize conditions:
    1. The prizes are non-transferable and non-exchangeable for cash or other items.
    2. The Organiser reserves the right to substitute any prize with another item of a similar value without prior notice.
    3. The Organiser is not responsible for any taxes, fees, or additional costs that may be incurred by the winners in claiming the prizes.
    4. By accepting the prizes, the winners agree to participate in any publicity or promotional activities as required by the Organiser.
    5. Prizes must be collected within a stipulated time frame and at a location specified by the Organiser. Failure to do so will result in the forfeiture of the prize.
    6. Winners collecting the prize must be accompanied by an adult (e.g., parent, guardian, or teacher).
  9. Liability:
    1. Participants understand and agree that their participation in the Competition is voluntary and at their own risk. The Organiser shall not be liable for any personal injury, loss or damage whatsoever suffered by any participant in relation to the Competition.
    2. The Organiser reserves the right at any time to modify the Terms and Conditions and/or cancel this Competition by posting the updates on SHF’s website.
    3. All matters and disputes arising from or in connection with the Competition and/or these Terms & Conditions shall be subject to the sole decision of the Organiser, and the Organiser’s decision shall be final and binding on all parties.
    4. By submitting the artwork, participants confirm that the work is their original creation and does not infringe on any third-party rights. Participants agree to indemnify the Organiser against any claims of infringement or misuse of intellectual property. The Organisers reserve the right to disqualify any participant who does not adhere to the competition rules or whose artwork is deemed inappropriate or offensive. The Organiser’s decision is final and binding.
  10. Collection of Personal Information:
    1. The Organiser may collect personal information in order to conduct the Competition and may, for this purpose, disclose such information to third parties, including but not limited to agents, contractors, service providers, prize suppliers and, as required, to Singaporean regulatory authorities. Entry is conditional on providing this information. All entries become the property of the Organiser.
    2. The Organiser may use the participants’ entries including their names and videos/photos, for publicity in the Organiser’s programmes and/or use in advertisements across all media in its original or edited format, without further notification, remuneration or compensation.
    3. By participating in the Competition, the participants are deemed to have specifically granted their respective consent to such participant’s personal information being collected, used and disclosed in accordance with these Terms and Conditions and the Organiser’s privacy policy.
