With COVID-19 lurking around the corner, “stay at home” has become a new norm for everyone. A healthy diet is something we can start with to keep our immune system working well. With more time on your hands, you can start preparing delicious food for yourself and for your family.

You can control what you eat when you are cooking, so why not pick up these heart smart cooking tips:

  • Avoid seasoning your food twice to reduce your salt intake, i.e. do not marinate your food and add more seasoning while cooking
  • Control your portion by using a smaller plate or bowl
  • Replace salt and sauces with herbs and spices
  • Choose lower-fat cooking methods like pan-fry, bake, grill or steam
  • Go for products with lower saturated fat content
