Why should I loan an AED?

When a person suffers from a sudden cardiac arrest, they must be treated promptly, within minutes. They abruptly lose heart function and lose consciousness within 15 seconds. Within another 30 to 60 seconds, they will stop breathing, and irreversible damage to their brain cells will follow after several minutes of oxygen deprivation.

AEDs are lightweight and portable devices that deliver an electric shock to the heart of an unconscious victim. The shock can stop an irregular heart rhythm and allow a normal rhythm to resume.

Having an AED on-site gave our run participants real peace of mind – it was reassuring to know we were equipped to respond in case of an emergency.

Exhibitions

The AED-on-Loan Programme provided us with a great asset to ensure the safety of audiences and staff at our 5-month long event, illumi. SHF also provides a comprehensive basic training for our freelance front-of-house staff on first aid and how to use the AED appropriately and responsibly.

Sporting Events

[The AED’s] lightweight and compact design made it easy for us to take turns carrying it along the [EBC] trail. […] I believe that having access to a portable AED fosters an environment where more people feel empowered to take on challenges with confidence.

Am I able to loan an AED on more than one occasion?

If you have an event that is happening over the course of a period, share with us the details of your event and the period you want to loan it for. Do take note that our AEDs are subjected to availability on a first-come, first-served basis. Please contact us at aed@heart.org.sg.

Am I able to loan an AED for longer than the loan period?

If you require the AED for more than 5 days, please contact us at aed@heart.org.sg with your required loan period.

Am I still able to loan an AED if there is nobody on the event site who is trained, or certified, in CPR+AED skills?

We strongly encourage you to have at least two people who are trained in CPR+AED on your event site. If you are unable to meet the requirements, we would still be able to loan you an AED as our AEDs are equipped with a voice prompter that can guide you through the process.
