Join Nature's Wonders with a Heart-Healthy Shoulder Tap this World Heart Day

Singapore, 22 September 2023 – To commemorate World Heart Day this year, Nature’s Wonders and Singapore Heart Foundation (SHF) have initiated a social media fitness challenge to promote the importance of maintaining a balanced and sustainable heart-healthy lifestyle. From 22 September to 8 October 2023, the #NWTap4HealthyHeart challenge encourages the public to participate and raise proceeds for SHF through simple exercises while spreading awareness on cardiovascular health.

In Singapore, an average of 23 people die from cardiovascular disease (CVD) every day, accounting for almost 1 out of 3 deaths in total1. To address this pressing issue, one effective strategy for mitigating the risk of CVD is by improving dietary habits. A balanced and nutritious diet not only helps maintain a healthy weight, thereby preventing obesity, but also plays a pivotal role in enhancing the overall function of our cardiovascular system. Regular physical activity is another essential component of a heart-healthy lifestyle, as regular exercise promotes cardiovascular health by improving heart function and blood vessel efficiency.

“Amidst today’s high CVD rates in Singapore, there is a demand to prioritise our health as a society,” said Esther Loo, Head of Marketing at Tai Sun. “Nature’s Wonders is deeply committed to supporting our consumers in achieving happier and healthier lives. To showcase this, we are launching this challenge to inspire a broader audience to cultivate health-conscious habits, including staying active and healthy snacking.”

“Caring for hearts is at the core of our mission at the Singapore Heart Foundation. Our goal is to educate and empower the public with the knowledge and tools they need to embrace heart-healthy lifestyles,” said Lim Kiat, Senior Nutritionist and Senior Manager for Programmes of SHF. “With collaborations like these, we aim to inspire individuals to prioritise their heart health and make lasting changes for a healthier future.”
